UPDATES!
Are you ready? Here are some important bits of information for the event!
- Getting to the starting line of the marathon: When entering Killeen on HWY 190 from either direction, take the WS Young Exit, turn south, and when you get to the top of the hill by the Killeen Civic and Conference Center, turn Right into those parking lots.
- Getting to the starting line of the 5klicks: IH-35 into Temple and take exit for Airport Road HWY 36 towards Gatesville. After passing LOOP363 light, the next road is Kegley Road on your left. Turn LEFT or South on Kegley and drive a short distance until you see the sign for Pepper Creek Trail entrance and parking.
There will be signs to guide you on a short walk to the starting/finish line area.
There will be NO ENTRANCE to any vehicles except official race vehicles on Hilliard Road starting on Saturday. This is so we can maintain a constant route for emergency vehicles should the need arise.
- Please note that this 5klicks Starting Line and Finish Line is also the Finish Line for The Army Marathon!
- Packet pickup will be from 3pm to 7pm on Friday 19 April and from 9am to 6pm on Saturday. This will include the shirts for the runners! This will be held at the Bell County Expo Center in Belton TX.

The Army Marathon was created to honor our Soldiers and National Guardsmen on the anniversary of the “Shot Heard Around The World” — the 1775 Battles of Lexington and Concord that signaled the beginning of the American Revolution and our independence! This exciting event will be held on April 21, 2013 coursing from Killeen to Temple, Texas in the vicinity of Ft. Hood – the largest active duty armored post in the United States military.
Our Mission is to honor the service and sacrifice of all military personnel, their families and survivors by raising funds through The Army Marathon and other races in order to support charitable activities for the broader military community.
You participation and support will help assure the success of the 2013 event and will forever enhance the lives of the veterans and families served by the benefiting charities.
