25 May

“I feel my purpose in life is to give to others. It is why I joined the military and it is why I gain the most satisfaction in life by paying it forward,” said McLean.

RADCLIFF, KY (May 16, 2017) – USA Cares, USA Cares, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that supports veterans and military families in crisis, is proud to announce that Ms. Liz McLean, President of Liz McLean Veteran Solutions, and responsible for leading veteran employment initiatives for military.com,  has been appointed to the organization’s national board of directors.

“I feel my purpose in life is to give to others. It is why I joined the military and it is why I gain the most satisfaction in life by paying it forward,” said McLean. “In a sea of non-profits and helping hands... USA Cares rises above with its reputation and resilience. You can't be the change you wish to see in the world without a backbone like the one USA Cares provides.”

As a 2006 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy with a master’s degree in Organizational Psychology, Ms. McLean served for five years as a Logistics Readiness Officer at both home and abroad. Shortly after receiving her commission to Officer, McLean worked as an event and travel coordinator for top military and civilian leaders, the State Department and other esteemed politicians from around the globe. Additionally, she has acted as a liaison between foreign embassies and the United States Government, forming ties to solidify International bonds.

In 2010, McLean joined the civilian recruiting world, helping both the military and civilian populace find their roles in the workforce. McLean has held positions in Corporate Human Resources (Booz Allen Hamilton, CACI and Hewlett Packard) and individual staffing agencies to create robust programs and collaborations between veterans and employers. She currently writes for numerous national publications and travels for speaking engagements to both the employee and veteran community.

“Our Board of Directors is comprised of many talented individuals with diverse backgrounds, all of whom share an affinity and passion for supporting our nation’s veterans and military families,” said Hank Patton, Executive Director of USA Cares. “Ms. McLean’s experience as an Air Force veteran and her active role within the military community will be tremendously helpful in our efforts to expand our reach to more veterans and military families who need our support. Her insight and expertise will undoubtedly strengthen our ability to provide life-changing assistance to those struggling as a result of their service.”

Additionally, McLean is an Ironman competitor, a Wounded Warrior triathlon coach, a proud representative for Ms. Veteran America, co-author of a manuscript in progress on using fitness to combat PTSD, and an active veteran transition advocate/career coach. According to her website (www.convoylizmcleansolutions.com,) McLean left the corporate world to help more organizations design their programs and assist a larger quantity of veterans in need. Her experience provides her with the opportunity to help educate more organizations to appreciate the veteran mindset and meet their company initiatives. It is McLean’s belief that being proactive and positive are two of the best skill-sets a person can bring to the table.

“We are honored to have Ms. McLean’s voice on our national board,” said Bill Roby, Board Chairman for USA Cares. “Her military background, training and experience will be invaluable in helping us move our organization forward.”
