Half-Million Miller/O’Reilly Moment

At the close of Dennis Miller’s December 16th “Miller Time” segment—a weekly feature on the top-rated cable news show, the O’Reilly Factor, Miller reminded the audience of the sacrifice made by our military and their families. He urged Bill O’Reilly’s viewers to join him in supporting USA Cares. It was at that moment O’Reilly announced he was donating $25,000 to USA Cares.  View the segment.

What followed over the next two weeks was a veritable flood of donations to USA Cares—to the tune of over $500,000*. Many of the donations that came to us cited O’Reilly and Miller’s endorsement of USA Cares as their key motivation for donating.

Miller and O’Reilly share a key characteristic—the trust of their fans. And when they mutually endorsed USA Cares, America responded. We at USA Cares stand in awe and with humble gratitude that Miller and O’Reilly provide our organization with a platform that reaches millions.

*A sizeable donation was made during this timeframe by an anonymous donor who became aware of USA Cares and its mission through Vince McMahon, the head of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).  Miller hosted the WWE’s 2010 Slammy Awards on behalf of USA Cares.
