Grant Funds Available
Under a program introduced Fall of 2009, new home purchases in the Kentucky counties of Bullitt, Jefferson, Hardin, Oldham, Shelby or Spencer, may be eligible for a grant through a grant from Citizens Union Bank (CUB). The home can be new construction or an existing structure, and the grant may be used for some renovation or adaption for special needs individuals.
The general guidelines for this grant are:
- Served in the US Military since September 2001
- Served an assignment in Iraq or Afghanistan
- Honorably discharged from the service
- Received a Service Connected Disability rating from the Veterans Administration of at least 30%
- Do not own another home and this home would be your home of residence
- The home must be located in the Kentucky counties of Bullitt, Jefferson, Hardin, Oldham, Shelby or Spencer
The individual grant per veteran is from $5,000 to $25,000, based on individual situations. The loan will be originated through CUB. USA Cares will assist veterans in education and questions regarding the grant opportunity and will coordinate with the veteran and bank loan officers.
