Hardee's Stars for Heroes
Stars for Heroes - Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. team up with USA Cares to support military families
There Is Something You Can Do.
Today (4/23/2012), “The Stars for Heroes” fundraising campaign kicks off at all Hardee’s restaurants and on April 25 at Carl’s Jr. and will run for three weeks. To participate, restaurant guests donate $1 in support of military charities. For each $1 donation, guests receive a commemorative “I am supporting military communities and families” patriotic star-shaped cut out to personalize and place on display in the restaurant. They will also receive restaurant coupons valued at more than $10 to use toward future purchases.

Write for a Cause…
Every act of kindness—each moment given to others can leave a life-long imprint. It is in this spirit that Somebody’s Mothers Chocolate introduces “The Simple Things”. Beginning March 15 - April 30, anyone who donates to USA Cares via Somebody’s Mothers Chocolate (minimum donation $5) is eligible to submit a “simple things” note about what has touched their life for the better. About Somebody’s Mothers Chocolate
In April 2005, Somebody’s Mother, Lynn Lasher, and her children launched a company in order to produce and sell a really great chocolate sauce (made often over the years at home by Somebody’s Mother’s Mother) which can be eaten warm over ice cream, at room temperature fastened to fruit, or cold straight out of the jar. What began as a grown up lemonade stand has become a nearly booming business. Click here for more.

Project 52—An Art Collection by Dave Dorman
USA Cares is partnering once again with #1 Star Wars artist and Eisner Award-winning illustrator Dave Dorman on his latest endeavor to support the troops—Project 52—An Art Collection by Dave Dorman. Through Project 52, Dorman, the son of USAF Lieutenant Colonel, is endeavoring to paint 52 paintings, in an effort to “give back” to military families through USA Cares. Announced on his 52nd birthday, Dorman remarked, “I know firsthand what it means to live the life of a family whose parent is an active duty military member. I want to ease the financial burden of those families who today are going through what I did.”
Project 52 will result in 52 one-of-a-kind military-inspired paintings. Once the series is complete, the collection will be displayed at military bases throughout the US and then published as a book and individual lithographs. Said Dorman’s Director of Social Media Jacob K. Young, “Through Project 52, we’re seeing Dave Dorman capturing pivotal moments in our American history on canvas.”
Dorman is “crowd funding” this passion project through INDIE GOGO and donating 50% of all book and lithograph sales to USA Cares. Dorman has already designated 20% of his new career retrospective art book, Rolling Thunder: The Art of Dave Dorman, to benefit USA Cares post-9/11 military clients.

We are often asked after telling the USA Cares story, “How can I help?”.
It isn’t always about money. Sometimes it is about telling our story to someone else, and if just one more military family finds us and is in need of help, then that is a good thing.
The other side of the coin is of course, we do need to continue to raise funds so that we can do what we do best, take care of military families.
We have listed several other ways that volunteers have taken it upon themselves to raise money on our behalf, both through their own efforts and through their friends and neighbors. We are honored by that effort.
If you review our site, you will see a variety of ways that we have been helped, concerts, golf scrambles, special dinners, joining our Red Shirt Friday campaign, or simply telling your friends about our mobile texting opportunities are all ways that we have been helped. If you have other ideas, we would be glad to discuss them. Please contact us at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
