Robert Patrick Lewis, Hospital Administrator, Former (2012) Green Beret Special Forces Medic
Mark Twain said: “Fiction is obligated to stick to the possibilities. Truth isn’t.”
Robert Patrick Lewis learned the harsh truth among the myriad of fictions about the damage and repair of the human body, and the politics that affect both.
Graduating from Texas State University, Robert took his marketing degree to Army Ranger school in Ft. Benning, GA. From there he became a Special Forces Medic and Special Ops Green Beret. He then served four tours in harms way in Iraq, Afghanistan and Africa. These ”post graduate studies” earned him a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, and numerous ribbons, medals and commendations from subjects not covered in college.
A husband and father of two, he now lives in Southern California with his wife and children. He is the author of the upcoming memoir, Love Me When I’m Gone.
Robert Patrick Lewis on USA Cares
As an Author, I get to write and talk on radio about my Green Beret experience. As part of Authors United for Veterans, I join with my fellow authors in support of USA Cares.
Having fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, I came through some tough spots. I came home with medals on my chest and metal in my chest, and was blessed with family support and financial stability to get me and my family through the wounds you cannot see, and the pain you cannot anticipate, and so many expenses!
If the President and Congress agreed tomorrow on a plan to aid our Vets, it would never meet the needs of tens of thousands of post 9/11 Military Families. Certainly not personal, financial, rapid-response needs.
Could you imagine calling your congressman if you need to visit your wounded spouse; or if you are recovering after your service and can’t pay your utility bill?
USA Cares are the first-responders here at home, helping military families meet immediate needs. USA Cares has helped over 40,000 military families. They act in 48 hours or less, and spend 88 cents of every dollar on helping military families …
… and they do not advertise.
So, as a Green Beret, a family man, and an author, I ask you to please go to my website, www.LoveMeWhenImGone.com, and click on charities, and have a look at USA Cares.
