Operation Backpack:

The Mission of Operation Backpack is to provide a backpack, duffle bag or Satchel to the Wounded Warriors.

Providing these items is a small way of assuring that a Service member has a provision to store and secure personal items, as well as carry them home when discharged.

On a visit to a Military Medical Facility we met a young amputee who was being discharged, very excited he “thanked us for visiting, and said he had to pack”, he reached for the trash bag left the night before and began emptying his personal items from the drawers and folding clothing to make it all fit.

This is where Operation Backpack began. In an effort to assure that America’s finest never have to pack their belongings into a trash bag.

Your Mission if you choose to accept it:

1. Provide or Collect the needed items (remember Service members are Male and Female, and the bags need to be medium sized)
2. Sew or iron on a patch/flag, or attach a small card or note (do not seal the envelops)
3. Help us find donors, research luggage companies and ask them to support you efforts, or local retailers, and sporting good stores.
4. Once the items are collected send group photos for our website with the name of the Group and individuals.
5. Send it to:

USA Cares, Inc.

If you would like to help but, do not wish to physically collect items, you can help USA Cares with this project by making “monetary donations” which will help with postage and handling.
